Carterhaugh is the LiveJournal name of Kim Orsel, a lover of English with an unhealthy interest in British literature, a detrimental urge to write a novel, one sibling and two parental units, two dogs, and three orchids. The name is taken from the ballad of Tam Lin, where it is used to indicate the woods which Tam Lin haunts.

Kim sometimes spends her time getting away from it all by hiding in the library of Leiden University.

And she writes. All the time. But it’s more to retain a semblance of sanity than anything else.

In her ideal world, she would be living in a community of writerly friends, and lecturing on English literature, while teaching English and writing novels.

In the real world, she has been awarded her Master's degree in English literature, and lives, photographs, and works in Rotterdam while chasing that ever-elusive thing that is a finished draft of her first novel.
